I GUSTI NGURAH RAI

An experimental publishing that tells a history about one of Indonesia heroic figure, Colonel I Gusti Ngurah Rai. He was born and raised in Bali, spent his life in military education and training, it leads him to his love to the homeland. In the meantime, when wars happened several times in the past, he tried to defend our country against colonizers. Ngurah Rai is a commander that sacrificed his life during the biggest war in Bali, Puputan War.

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Book Cover — After his death, Bali's International Airport transformed its name into Ngurah Rai International Airport to commemorate his fight against the colonizer. Therefore, the concept that I used to this project is a pocket that travellers often carry around. The graphics that are shown were the reimagined of his appereance on Indonesian Rupiah, Batik Motifs from Bali, and Kain Poleng (the sacred fabric that are used in Bali trees).
